Jefferson Memorial in Spring


As a new resident of the Greater Metro DC area, I did the tourist thing and visited the Cherry Blossom Festival this past Easter. The blooms were slightly past peak, so many of the trees were interspersed with brilliant blossoms and touches of green, but it was still a beautiful sight. It was a sunny day, so I had my trusty polarizer — I’m not sure how I ever lived without it. As usual, I was shooting in raw, but for something like this I may start start using raw+jpg. I had a difficult time correcting the white balance in many of these images, and having a jpg to fall back on would be nice. But, I’m happy with how they turned out regardless.

As you can see, I went a little overboard with some fairly standard framing techniques and the rule of thirds…
