These little blue herons were also at Chincoteague NWR. I had never seen one before — they’re quite striking! The second was fishing in the shadows, so my white balance was way off, and I’m not sure I corrected for it adequately. One of the drawbacks of shooting in RAW… I should really shoot a jpg every now and then just to see what Nikon thinks the colors should look like.
The wind was howling, as you can see in some of the shots. Both the heron and I had hard time staying upright, and unfortunately most of the shots are either a tad blurry or poorly framed. But a few came out alright. I especially like the few near the end, where the sunlight is reflecting off the water onto the bird’s chest. Not something I was going for, but a pleasant serendipitous detail.
