I woke up early this past Saturday morning for another Bombay Hook NWR sunrise, hoping to recreate the success of my last visit. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Despite a stunning red horizon, the sun never appeared, remaining instead behind the clouds. I left with just a handful of shots.
I did walk away with an ‘almost’ shot. Just minutes prior to snow geese flying perfectly in front of a setting moon, a thin layer of clouds moved in to spoil what would otherwise be a dream shot of mine. The first group consisted of only 3 birds, but the second flew across in formation. I have the entire sequence as the birds moved across the moon (about 15 shots in 3 seconds), but I liked the one below the best.
So close.
